It’s a coast-to-coast collaboration! Northern California’s Xotix have teamed up with Virginia Beach boys Big City for a high-flying tune that gets us hyped for a brand new collective.
Kevin Lee a.k.a. MeSo is the founder behind JIYU, which is Japanese for “free.” “What I’m trying to do with this project is create a space for talented and dedicated friends to share, learn, and grow together while being free to express themselves however they want,” Lee notes.
Fans will recognize a number of names from the roster including Super Future, Kyral x Banko, Shanghai Doom, FRQ NCY, Blurrd Vzn, and more. Longtime collaborators Xotix and Big City joined MeSo on stage at The Untz Festival last year, and Xotix is coming back this year as an official booking with all three members.
Richie Lucov, Jake Bragonier, and David Monath linked up with Mike and Zach Moreno for “Fuggetaboutit,” a fun romp of a tune that demonstrates all five of their production chops. It’s a big ol’ brain trust of bass music bosses. It’s a statement from the nascent JIYU crew that they mean business when it comes to cranking out heavy-hitters. The Liberate Vol. I compilation is out today, January 27, and you can pre-save this tune now: gate.fm/VssJGxTx
