Tanc opened his latest solo exhibition in Paris in January, luckily the exhibition is still up and you can see it at Galerie Wallworks. The show titled “Automatism” is self titled in a way, Tanc has taken inspiration from the act of an automatic mark. The minimal monochromatic works allow the mark to take precedence in the work. Whether it is a vibrant colored background or the absence of color with White Automatism focuses the act of the mark in repetition over and over. Like a typewriter that pounds the paper and returns onto the next line, Tanc creates a automatic response with his gesture sometimes coherent other times abstract. What is important is the rhythmic abstract nature of the gesture and the artists hand without cognition. An impressive body of work that we hope you take time to view before the show ends.
