LXURY – “Never Love”

French label Kitsuné have been putting out music that slyly blends indie pop with dance music for over a decade now, and with the upcoming Kitsuné New Faces compilation they’re showing no signs of letting up that unwavering quality of theirs. Lxury’s “Never Love” is our latest preview from the upcoming compilation, and just like the last it’s The post LXURY – “Never Love” appeared first on Pigeons & Planes.

Fashawn “Ladies”

Before I sign out, lemme drop off this new joint from Fashawn. We’ve been waiting awhile for word on his upcoming sophomore LP, The Ecology, but the joints he’s dropped in between time have been tough (make sure you check “The Beginning”). For today’s drop, Fash’s producer/manager, Hecktik, chops a Lee Fields sample while the Fresno emcee waxes poetic on the strong women in his life – check it, below. Artwork: Stromberg. Franskild – Clockworks

Posted on:

Clockworks, by Franskild, a duo from Copenhagen, is eerie, bumpin’, and beautiful, all at the same time. The vocals complement the syncopated rhythm and echo and flow as the beat changes. Franskild creates a deep sound that seems like it could even be magical. Sounds bounce off each other like waves in a pond and the as the sound builds as the song takes shape. I like the vocals so much, I almost wish that there were more. Nonetheless, the current balance is still superb, and it suits the song well. Listening to the lyrics also adds an extra dimension to the song. The voice describes a couple’s breaking up, mending…

Misun – “Sleep”

Posted on:

When DC band Misun does finally put out their debut album, they’re going to have plenty of good material for it—just check out their other work. Their latest is “Sleep,” and with stabbing synths and a thumping retro beat, it’s a little more dance-friendly than some of their previous work. Thee Oh Sees – “Penetrating Eye”

Despite the recent news that San Francisco’s garage rockers, Thee Oh Sees, will be taking a much-needed break (and possibly restructuring) in 2014, the band has just released a thrashing new track, “Penetrating Eye.” Set to be released on their upcoming Drop LP, the song will serve as a momentary distraction for fans worried about the band’s The post Thee Oh Sees – “Penetrating Eye” appeared first on Pigeons & Planes.

Conor Oberst – “Hundreds Of Ways”

Posted on:

I used to listen to Conor Oberst much more than I do now. From age 15 to maybe 17, back when I thought Oberst to be some sort of modern day Shakespeare, those Bright Eyes albums (especially Fevers & Mirrors and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn) got a lot plays. I don’t listen as much anymore, The post Conor Oberst – “Hundreds Of Ways” appeared first on Pigeons & Planes.

Death Plans Archival LP ‘Death III’ + “North Street”

Posted on:

Y’all probably remember Death from A Band Called Death, the ever compelling documentary that shined some light on the heartwarming and inspiring origin story of that innovative group of brothers from Detroit, whose careers came to a roaring halt when guitarist David Hackney tragically passed. The electric trio is slated to drop Death III, an archival LP composed of recordings from throughout the embattled groups careers, ranging from 1975-1992, commemorating the legacy of their brother David in one monstrous romp of a release. Many have ascribed the heavily mythologized “punk” label to Death, but if you’ve actually heard any of their material, you might liken them…
