The Most WTF Moments in Battle Rap History

Posted on:

Battle rap is filled with moments that make you go, “WTF?” Sometimes, this can be indicative of a good performance. “WTF? How did he come up with that?” But often times, “WTF” alludes to some horrible, embarrassing stuff. In battles, this includes absurd punchlines, ridiculous punches, and incredible moments of brilliance and idiocy. These moments include a man urinating on himself after asking his opponent to be his boyfriend, a man acknowledging that his “penis is kinda small,” a man confusing surrogation and segregation, and a woman offering her opponent Monistat and Vagisil. These moments may also include a man who dresses as Batman to battle a blind opponent, gets naked in another battle, and dresses as…

James Blake‘s remix of Kendrick Lamar‘s “m.A.A.d city” surfaces following his recent set on BBC Radio 1 – the second installment of a 2-part residency that netted remixes of Mystikal‘s “Pay Me” and Beyoncé‘s “Drunk In Love.” Blake’s melting new track entitled “40455″ also made its debut during that broadcast. Upon his return, Blake keeps the new joints coming with a rework of the K.Dot track that he reportedly “made on the plane.” Check the track below to listen to “m.A.A.d city” (James Blake Harmonimix)…

Brolin – “You”

Posted on:

Brolin is back. Originally heard on his The Flags mixtape “You,” is a pulsating, stylish addition to his small-but-sweet catalog of songs. The masked producer impresses with his entrancing blend of electronic pop, and if he continues to release new music of this quality, and at this rate, 2014 should treat him well. RAC ft. Karl Kling – Repeating Motion

It feels odd to go from the dark depths of Bass Report to this, possibly the poppiest song you’ll see my name stamped on here at Salacious Sound. But hey… I appreciate artists of all shapes and sizes, and this feel good track from RAC‘s upcoming two-part album Strangers deserves a listen or five. Stream Beck’s New Album “Morning Phase”

Posted on:

A full week prior to its release, NPR is currently hosting a stream of Beck’s twelfth studio album, Morning Phase. Apparently, the LP is supposed to play out like a sequel to 2002′s Sea Change; as Sea Change ends on a melancholic note, Beck ushers Morning Phase in with an optimistic one. Glass Animals- “Gooey”

Posted on:

Glass Animals join the siege of left-of-center r&b acts to make their way across the pond from the UK with their latest Valentine’s Day drop “Gooey.” Produced by band member Dave Bayley –of Adele fame– the track layers a swirling Wurlitzer lick over some lo-fi drum work adding a texture that is endlessly wet. While this one was originally slated to drop next week, it was simply too ripe for a non-lover’s day roll-out. Glass Animals has their debut EP scheduled for an April 8th release on the Harvest imprint…

Premiere: Indiana – “Solo Dancing (Joe Goddard Remix)”

Posted on:

Joe Goddard of Hot Chip always kills it with his remixes, but you should know that things are going to be especially good when the source material has vocals this good. British singer Indiana, who first impressed us with “Bound,” manages to fill her voice with emotion without ever over-reaching, and Joe Goddard seems to The post Premiere: Indiana – “Solo Dancing (Joe Goddard Remix)” appeared first on Pigeons & Planes.
