All We Need (feat. Shy Girls) (Dawn Golden Remix)

Posted on:

There’s an old saying: for every good song, there’s a million remixes of it on SoundCloud. This statement couldn’t be more true for the band Odeza, a duo who have put out a stellar EP,  In Return. SoundCloud has literally been littered with poor covers/mashups/remixes/acapella’s/cat covers of every track from their EP. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised with Dawn Golden’s answer to the sea of bad remixes. Their version of “All we Need” adds something new to the music, without detracting from the original piece. It’s fantastic, and something you should exactly expect from Dawn Golden. Give it a listen. Dawn Golden…

Toronto’s Tim North is On His Comeup

Posted on:

I’ve been looking forward to the release of this product for some time. Toronto’s Tim North is an emerging artist and producer hailing from a city that continues to make waves with its musical creativity. Yesterday, he released his debut single titled “100 Proof” produced by Fool’s Gold Record’s buzzing music-maker High Klassified. The song is a perfect blend of Tim‘s fast paced & poignant delivery with High Klassified’s ambient composition. Tim North‘s debut project, 15BLOCKS is set for a second quarter 2015 release. Secret Sun – Feather (Deebs Remix)

Posted on:

Montreal’s vibrant duo Secret Sun tap Deebs for an emotional rendition of Feather.  After writing for well over a year, Secret Sun’s debut EP Cold Coast developed into a brooding reality that set them apart from the buzzing Montreal scene. In Deebs’ remix, nocturnal synths and spellbinding arrangements rub shoulders with a hypnotizing sonic universe.  Building into an epic climax of atmosphere and vocals before dropping into oblivion. [Premiere] — goste — Hold On/Let Go

Posted on:

Greetings, Sometimes on a cold winter’s day, you need something good to chill you out (/warm you up), and this is just that. Brooklyn based producer, goste, offers us a live version of his tune Hold On/Let Go for our listening pleasure. It’s refreshing to hear electronica artists these days using their own voice for their tracks, and for that I applaud him! It must be that Berklee music education… Combined with the ethereal video, filmed/directed/edited by Chris Thomas Creative, the track has a very nice “ghosty” vibe, that couples nicely with staring out a dark window with a sole light behind…

Cathedrals – Want My Love (TastyTreat X BLACK MONDAY Remix)

Posted on:

Cathedrals, the San Francisco based duo 1 part Brodie Jenkins (Ghost and Gale) and 1 part Johnny Hwin (Blackbird Blackbird), took 2014 by surprise with their self titled Cathedrals EP. Not to disappoint in 2015, Cathedrals has summoned SLO based Tasty Treat and LA based Black Monday for a remix of Want My Love. Off the bat, we are greeted by stunning keys that usher in a classic hip hop back drop, only to be hit by body rawring synths that are sure to keep this one on repeat. The tracks featured on Cathedrals’ debut album released via Neon Gold Records. Follow on: Soundcloud | Facebook RIVER AND ANDREW SITTING IN A TREE. p.s. ziad…

Premiere: Harriet Brown – “20/15″

Posted on:

Harriet Brown is a singer, songwriter, and producer based in Los Angeles, and on “20/15″ he goes heavy on the funk and Prince-esque vocals with sultry but uplifting results. On first listen, it might sound like the artist is trying to seduce the subject he’s singing to, with lines like, “I’ll give you a full check […] The post Premiere: Harriet Brown – “20/15″ appeared first on Pigeons & Planes.

The Young Professionals Will Get Inside Your Head

Tel Aviv’s The Young Professionals have been around for a hot minute, with their first album (in English) 9am to 5pm, 5pm to Whenever reaching the top 10 on iTunes in France. That said, the duo’s new single “All Of It But Me,” featuring Austrian vocalist Anna F., should hit the sweet spot for U.S. listeners far and wide. Channeling electro-pop favorites like Empire of the Sun and La Roux, The Young Professionals are poised to have a huge 2015 with Cherrytree Records (Polydor / Universal) behind them. The band has also produced some inspiring remixes for a variety of global artists – including Lana Del Rey (‘West Coast‘), Tegan & Sara (‘Closer‘)…

Premiere: Dead Right! – “Rising Tide (Gianni Lee Remix)”

Posted on:

It’s always weird getting introduced to a song via a remix, but that’s what happened with this song from Dead Right!, the Los Angeles duo comprised of singer Graham Knoxx and producer/instrumentalist Alex Goose. They got producer Gianni Lee to remix their debut single “Rising Tide” into an eclectic, dance-friendly jam led by the catchy vocals and […] The post Premiere: Dead Right! – “Rising Tide (Gianni Lee Remix)” appeared first on Pigeons & Planes.

A.Chal “GAZI”

Posted on:

I was a little worried that NY/LA producer/artist, A.Chal, was just teasing a return with the recent release of his Gotham Mix Vol.2, only to return to hiding for the next two years. Lucky for us all, that’s not the case. The highlight of the aforementioned mix was undoubtedly the closing track, and A.Chal just released the full version – just as dope as I thought it would be. Listen to the Count Justice co-produced joint, “GAZI.” The moody and self-reflective record details the reality of living on the blurred line between ‘making it happen’ and ‘faking it ’til you make it.’ Let’s hope an announcement for a new project from Chal is coming…
