Salt-N-Pepa and Naughty By Nature Join ‘MixTape Tour’

Rap legends Salt-N-Pepa and Naughty By Nature have joined New Kids on the Block for a special tour that celebrates the pop grandeur of the ‘80s.

“The Mixtape Tour” will feature acts from the ‘80s including pop sensations Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. In addition, NKOTB released a new track called “80s Baby” (see below) that features all the “MixTape Tour” acts.

Salt-N-Pepa (with DJ Spinderella) started in the rap game in 1985 and garnered their first big hit in 1986 with the club anthem “Push It.” They are the first female rap group to go platinum, courtesy of their 1986 debut album Hot, Cool & Vicious. They were also the first female rap act to have a multiplatinum-selling album with 1993’s Very Necessary.

Naughty By Nature are not known as ‘80s artists but technically they formed as a group in 1989 as the New Style and released an underground album called Independent Leaders. But in 1990, under the advice of Queen Latifah, they changed their name to Naughty By Nature and the rest, as they say, is rap history. The New Jersey-based trio have produced a slew of classic anthems including “O.P.P.,” “Uptown Anthem” and “Hip-Hop Hooray.”

“The Mixtape Tour” will hit North America next summer starting May 19, 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 53-city trek will then hit major cities like Indianapolis, St. Louis, Nashville, Houston, Los Angeles, Detroit, Washington, D.C, Philadelphia, Boston, Atlanta and more before wrapping it up in Hollywood, Fla., on July 14.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday (Oct. 12) at Ticketmaster.com. If you are an American Express card holder you are in luck – AMEX members can buy tickets before the general public starting Oct. 9 through Oct. 11.
