Rocky Dawuni is a reggae artist, singer and songwriter from Ghana who has become a staple of the scene after first emerging back in 1996. In an exciting turn of events, Rocky has now teamed up with Point Blank to open up his track ‘African Thriller’, the first single from his new album, to our students and alumni for an exclusive remix competition with some amazing prizes and exposure on offer. The ‘African Thriller’ remix contest is an opportunity to express yourself through Rocky Dawuni’s music in whatever genre you choose. Winners will be selected directly be Rocky, so everyone is being encouraged to get as creative as possible to transform his music. The winner of the grand prize will be promoted through the artist and label’s extensive social media networks, and will receive The House of Marley’s lux Bamboo Get Together Portable Audio System as well as a signed, limited edition vinyl copy of Rocky’s new album ‘Branches of the Same Tree’. Two runners up will get the nifty Liberate On-Ear Headphones, also from The House of Marley.
You can grab the stems to make your remix here, and all remixes need to be submitted before midnight on Tuesday 17th March in this SoundCloud group. Be sure to upload your remix with downloads disabled, and name it using this format ‘African Thriller (Your Name Remix)’. Then, message Cumbancha on SoundCloud with your name, e-mail address and a link to your remix. Cumbancha will respond to confirm receipt of your remix. Good luck!
