Ravenscoon is sooooooo dreamy. No, I’m not just drawing Paul Conversano‘s name over and over again covered in little hearts on my Trapper Keeper (or maybe I am, it’s a free country). His latest self-released EP, Rapid Eye Movements, is all about dreams and is meant to subvert your liminal space.
Keeping the same BPM and key over four tracks, the EP is meant to keep fans in a deep, dreamlike state, throughout. But this is anything but a collection of lullabies.
Ravenscoon kicks off the EP with today’s premiere, “Nystagmus,” a speaker-rattling throwback dubstep tune. It may have a classic vibe, but its production techniques are far from retro. Watch your neck around that second drop, which takes the wub factor to infinity and beyond. Some choice samples from Richard Linklater’s seminal Waking Life really set the mood.
Rapid Eye Movements is out January 29th. Pre-save it now.
