Mute Records is one of the most legendary labels in electronic music history. Headed up by Daniel Miller since 1978, the influential label has constantly remained at the forefront of electronic music landscape. With artists like Goldfrapp, Plastikman, Arca, Apparat, Depeche Mode and many more, the label reflects the ever-shifting sound of contemporary music.
We’re very excited to announce that Mute has teamed up with Point Blank to find a full-time studio assistant for their new studio facility in London.

The successful applicant will be assisting in a mix room and synth hub rather than a recording studio and live space and the candidate will need to be a synth head (both analogue and digital) and have a basic understanding of synths as well as a good ability to edit in Pro Tools and understand other programmes such as Ableton and Logic. Furthermore, Mute “will focus on helping the the studio assistant develop from the role of assistant moving towards engineer. We have some excellent engineers we work with to help with this.”

Studio Assistant Responsibilities
1. Responsible for all studio maintenance and upkeep of all the studio equipment. This includes:
• All the computer software and hardware being kept up to date with both the latest versions and checking that all versions of software are compatible and run efficiently.
• All the outboard equipment and synths being kept in a well-maintained condition.
• All other instruments, microphones and other recording / mixing devices being regularly stock-checked & accounted for and being kept in full working order.
2. Setting up and engineering and/or assisting, as required for various sessions (programming/recording/mixing/overdubs etc.). This includes:
• Being proficient in all music programme formats (Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton Live).
• Being able to set up and work all the studio synths.
• Editing and engineering radio edits, compiling & other editing type duties including back-up and stem preparation.
3. Supervising the studio sessions, as directed by the studio manager thus liaising with artists, studio manager & other label staff to ensure sessions are run efficiently & are delivered correctly.
4. Ensuring artist’s hospitality requirements are fulfilled.
5. Assist with the general daily administration and duties of the bookings / studio manager, such as making sure that all sessions are accounted for correctly & worksheets are completed the same day as a session ends.
6. Undertaking any other relevant label or studio duties as requested by the studio manager, Mute MD or Daniel Miller.
