February was a hectic month for us here at Point Blank. It saw us officially launch our brand spanking new school in Los Angeles, and as ever we shared with you some amazing videos and tutorials. PBLA Launch Event
As you can imagine, we were incredibly excited to launch our brand new school in Los Angeles on 19th February. In our opinion it couldn’t have gone any better, and the place was absolutely packed with people wanting to get a first look at the first class facilities. There were exclusive free giveaways for everyone in attendance, alongside an Ableton masterclass with Point Blank instructor Sweatson Klank, our ‘The Business Behind the Music’ panel and a Native Instruments live Komplete Kontrol performance with Mark de Clive-Lowe.
Disclosure – Latch Deconstruction with Full Ableton Live Project File Download
Our Lead Course Developer Ski Oakenfull is the man when it comes to Ableton Live, and for his latest deconstruction he tackled the huge tune that is Latch from UK wonder duo Disclosure. Deconstructing this track wasn’t straightforward by any means, but Ski managed to make it look easy. Watch the video above, and if you fancy having a go with Ski’s full project file in Ableton Live, you can download it for free right here.
James Lavelle: Interview
If you know anything about trip hop, you’ll have heard of James Lavelle. If not, you’re in luck because in February we uploaded our exclusive video interview with the man himself. Shot on location at Meltdown Festival at London’s Southbank, we had the opportunity to pick Lavelle’s brains about all things trip hop, DJ Shadow and his iconic Mo’Wax label.
Trance/EDM Module Preview
February also saw us launch a very exciting new module here at Point Blank. Our Trance/EDM module is perfect for those of you looking to learn directly from active, successful professionals how to make a wide range of music within the EDM/trance music bracket. The module is extremely versatile, and can be studied on both our Ableton Live and Logic Pro online diplomas. Watch the video above to get the full lowdown!
Patrick Topping: Interview
Point Blank was fully representing at DJ Mag’s Best of British 2014 Awards where we got to chat exclusively with the winners. For this video interview, we sat down with PB alumnus Patrick Topping. Since studying with PB, Patrick has gone on to secure releases with some of the hottest record labels around including Hot Creations, and it was his track ‘Forget‘ that won Track of the Year. Mr. Topping had some great things to say about his time at Point Blank, so watch the video above to see what he said!
