Gucci Mane has made it clear that his personal growth is more than just him bettering himself, he’s looking to celebrate the joys of being a father on his new double album, Breath of Fresh Air.
During a recent interview with Streetz Atlanta, Guwop opened up about his additional sources of motivation — being his wife and children — and how he wants to celebrate his family more than anything these days.
“This time when I dropped this album, I kind of like wanted to wait until 10/17 my album, ’cause I ain’t dropped an album in like, two, three years,” he said. “I just been focusing on my label. But, I was like, I want to put out an album to be a time capsule of where I’m at in my life right now, so I can look back at it 10 years from now.
“I was like, basically, I’ma roll this album out, and this gon’ be the discography of Gucci in 2023, with my little girl, and my boy. So now when I look back 10 years from now, I say okay, this where I was at.”
He continued: “These the songs I made, this what was on my mind, and that’s where Breath of Fresh Air, like take your time. Enjoy your family. And just express that instead of like, talking about — not even the same stuff I talk about — but the same stuff I hear people talk about.
“Show people you can talk about other things, you know what I’m saying? It’s cool to have a family. It’s cool to have dinner at home.”
Gucci Mane’s new album, Breath of Fresh Air, was released earlier this week. The album clocks in at 24 tracks and boasts features from J. Cole, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Kodak Black, the late Young Dolph and many more.
The project serves as the follow-up to Ice Daddy, which dropped in June 2021 and peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard 200 chart.
While the “Lemonade” rapper wants to showcase different parts of his personal life, he’s also recently committed to burying a long-standing beef with T.I.
Gucci performed at Atlanta’s The Tabernacle on Tuesday (October 17) to celebrate the release of Breath of Fresh Air.
During the concert, Gucci Mane surprised fans by bringing out T.I. In addition to performing, the former rivals had a brief conversation and shook hands in front of the crowd, with Tip proclaiming his “love and respect” toward Guwop.
“Much respect @Tip,” Gucci wrote on his Instagram Stories while sharing a video of their reconciliation. Killer Mike also commended the moment by saying in an Instagram comment: “God Bless Atlanta! These two men are setting a beautiful example!”
Throughout the night, Gucci also brought out Quavo, Latto and Key Glock.
The self-proclaimed Trap God additionally received a proclamation from the Atlanta City Council declaring October 17 “Gucci Mane Day.”
