NC songstress Carlitta Durand has made a name for herself over the years through collaborations with Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Skyzoo and others. Joywave “Bad Dreams” feat. Mick Jenkins & Little Simz

Posted on:

We’ve seen Rochester, NY band, Joywave, dip into the hip-hop world in the past (this slapper with STS comes to mind). Today, they’re at it again, this time tapping OKP favorites Mick Jenkins and Little Simz for the haunting new track, “Bad Dreams.” Three very different dynamics, but all three sound right at home on this track – check it, below. Look for this one on Joywave’s upcoming album, How Do You Feel Now?, which will be out on April 21st. Photo: Drew Reynolds spotted fader The post Joywave “Bad Dreams” feat. Action Bronson on ESPN’s Highly Questionable

Posted on:

I could pretty much watch Action Bronson interviews daily, and with his new album coming out in a few weeks, that’s pretty much what’s happening. But seriously, find me a boring Action Bronson interview. For his latest press stop, Bronsolino makes an appearance on ESPN’s show Highly Questionable with Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones. Bronson discusses the experience of recording “Easy Rider,” how he started rapping, body slamming fans at his show, porta-potty raps, and in case you were worried things wouldn’t get inappropriate on an ESPN show, he also discusses his dating life (“crazzzzy sex”). The sit-down concludes with Bronson and Dan’s father comparing their robust bellies (yup, full frontal). Mr. Wonderful, will be out March 24th. …

Curren$y recently announced that his next album, Pilot Talk 3, is on the way. It’s pretty much a given that any new Spitta album is going to include a new version of “Audio Dope” – today he hits us with number 5. Ski Beatz once again is on board for the production, while Curren$y supplies the buttery bars. Check it out, below. Video directed by Saddi. Pilot Talk 3 is coming soon. A.Chal “GAZI”

Posted on:

I was a little worried that NY/LA producer/artist, A.Chal, was just teasing a return with the recent release of his Gotham Mix Vol.2, only to return to hiding for the next two years. Lucky for us all, that’s not the case. The highlight of the aforementioned mix was undoubtedly the closing track, and A.Chal just released the full version – just as dope as I thought it would be. Listen to the Count Justice co-produced joint, “GAZI.” The moody and self-reflective record details the reality of living on the blurred line between ‘making it happen’ and ‘faking it ’til you make it.’ Let’s hope an announcement for a new project from Chal is coming…

Towkio “Free Your Mind” feat. Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment

Posted on:

After dropping a very dance heavy cut with Vic Mensa a few weeks ago, SaveMoney representative, Towkio, makes his return with “Free Your Mind.” Towkio turns the funk all the way up for this one and brings along Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment for the help-out (with production from Camo’bi). Says Towkio of the song: “This record was made over a year ago… When you create the right emotion the work becomes timeless. I’m just trying to make timeless music.” Look for Towkio’s .Wav Theory tape to drop in April. The post Towkio “Free Your Mind” feat. Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment

Alex Wiley “Right Right (prod. Hippie Sabotage)” feat. Kembe X

Alex Wiley hit us with that warm up a week ago, but now the Chicago emcee switches gears with this more uptempo jam, “Right Right.” Hippie Sabotage supply the production, while fellow Chi town lyricist, Kembe X, comes along for the guest verse. Look for Wiley to drop his new project next month. NYC: Catch Alex Wiley and Kembe X (along with Tunji Ige and Trial & Error) at SOBs on March 4th (get tickets here). Lupe Fiasco & Nikki Jean x The Roots “Little Death” Live On The Tonight Show

Posted on:

Tonight’s airing of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon featured a performance from OKP favorites Lupe Fiasco and Nikki Jean. Lupe was on hand to perform his stand-out track, “Little Death,” off his recently released LP, Tetsuo & Youth. The song, which features Nikki Jean on the hook, already has a live sound to it, but, as often is the case, the addition of The Roots to the track really upgraded the song for me (that horn section was killing’ it, too). Very dope performance, check it out, below. Make sur to pick up Lupe’s Tetsuo & Youth via iTunes. If you come around these parts often, you’re more than aware that we’re quite THEE fans of Seattle duo, THEESatisfaction. Zumo Kollie “Say A Prayer” [Official Video]

Providence emcee, Zumo Kollie, burst back onto the scene last year with the release of his project, You’re A Good Sport, Zumo Kollie. “Park Day” was the joint that initially caught my attention, but dude is definitely spittin’ flames on the EP’s opening track, “Say A Prayer,” as well. Today, said track gets the visual treatment. Listen to young Zumo vent with some real honest societal critiques in his new video. Let’s hope 2015 will bring another project from Zumo. Asher Roth “Blow Yr Head (prod. Nottz)”

Is there a better way to celebrate the first day of lent than with some hard hitting hip-hop? Probably, but that’s neither here nor there. It being Ash Wednesday, Asher Roth makes a welcome return with a new joint with Nottz. Take a listen to Ahser’s lyrical display on “Blow Yr Head.” The post Asher Roth “Blow Yr Head (prod. Alex Wiley “Ready”

Chicago emcee/producer, Alex Wiley, makes his first of appearance of 2015 with a new joint and a few announcements. First up is his hazy new single, “Ready.” Wiley looks to the future with an optimistic viewpoint on this brief and smooth jeffRX co-produced joint. If you like what you’re hearing, expect more, as Wiley also announces a new mixtape will be arriving “within the next 30 days.” To go along with that, He’ll also be setting off on tour starting at the end of the month. Listen to the good shit coming his way, below (and get the tour dates, as well). Upcoming Tour Dates: 2/28 – Rolling…
