Eputty christens Pulp Glitchin’ label with fiery EP

By: Anand Harsh

Ewan J. Colvin is the co-founder of the Pulp Glitchin’ label, and as of last month, holds claim to its inaugural release. Eputty, out of Perth, really knocks his EP, The Tutty Putty, for a loop with irreverent takes on drum & bass and halftime. Most contemporary drum & bass producers are so serious, but you can tell that Colvin had fun making this EP.

He credits much of his success and the improvement in his sound to production lessons with SLUG WIFE’s Sandy Findlayson a.k.a. Seppa. The result is a shockingly groovy release that echoes the fun aesthetic of the gastropod set.

Gonna,” “Yump,” and “Test Drive” all bounce back and forth between halftime and DnB, and still carry the official sound of western Australia (in my ears), that really slappy glitch hop sound that bleeds over into other genres. I’m glad I got hipped to this release, because I’m a halftime slob, but I hate when it’s over-pretentious. Eputty makes halftime fun.
