It’s been a rough week for Palestinians and others in the region, as Israel rejects a permanent ceasefire yet again and takes over the Rafah border. We at Justseeds continue to support our folks on the ground through mutual aid, free graphics care packages, and amplifying Palestinian culture and resistance. It is in this time that we publicly formalize our already practiced support for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel until the 2005 demands by Palestinians are met.
Palestinian Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI) urges international cultural workers (e.g. artists, writers, filmmakers) and cultural organizations, including unions and associations, where possible and as relevant, to boycott and/or work towards the cancellation of events, activities, agreements, or projects involving Israel, its lobby groups or its cultural institutions, or that otherwise promote the normalization of Israel in the global cultural sphere, whitewash Israel’s violations of international law and Palestinian rights, or violate the BDS guidelines.
As a platform and as individuals we at Justseeds commit to the following:
- Refrain from participation in any form of academic and cultural cooperation, collaboration or joint projects with Israeli institutions;
- Advocate a comprehensive boycott of Israeli institutions at the national and international levels, including suspension of all forms of funding and subsidies to these institutions;
- Promote divestment and disinvestment from the state of Israel by international academic institutions;
- Work toward the condemnation of Israeli policies by pressing for resolutions to be adopted by academic, professional & cultural associations and organizations,
- Support Palestinian academic and cultural institutions directly without requiring them to partner with Israeli counterparts as an explicit or implicit condition for such support.
Justseeds commits ongoing support of the Palestinian liberation movement as a part of our larger commitment to the peoples’ struggles worldwide for justice and self-determination.
