I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not quite up-to-speed on the goings on in the Moscow bass music scene, but thankfully Bassweight Moscow has given me a crash course.
The label is putting out a series of dubplates that feature a “light” side and “dark” side. These 10″ singles with B-sides are limited to 25 copies and feature the hottest tunes the imprint can find.
The latest release, BWDP03, the third in the series, feature Distant Roots & Hotcut, who have gotten support from J:Kenzo among others. If it’s good enough for Kenz, it’s good enough for me. “Wall Shaking,” is the light side single that takes an upbeat 130 BPM breaks sound for a spring in a “Bristol fashion” according to the Bassweight team. The B-side, “Propaganda,” is where things get dark. Each 33 RPM vinyl comes with a hand-etched linocut outer sleeve and a sticker pack with digital downloads.
