In a nostalgic twist, the iconic World Bar of Sydney’s yesteryear is set to reclaim its nightlife glory, taking over the Kings Cross Hotel on Saturday, November 18 for a one-night-only extravaganza, nearly five years after its closure.
Dubbed ‘World Bar – One More Time,’ this event promises to be a resplendent journey through the city’s music history, harking back to the famed Wall, Cakes, and Mum nights of its glory years. The festivities will span four levels, featuring a lineup of more than 20 artists and producers, with the full roster to be unveiled soon. Punters can relish the return of the legendary teapot cocktails and perhaps even the glimmer of disco balls, immersing themselves in the vibrant atmosphere that World Bar was renowned for during its 18-year tenure on Bayswater Road.
World Bar’s owner, Steve Ward, eagerly anticipates rekindling the love for this cherished establishment, remarking, “It’s been a while since we threw a shindig, we think it’s time.” Collaborating with the Kings Cross Hotel, known for its unique character, Ward seeks to recreate the magic of World Bar within the venue’s familiar confines, promising a night filled with surprises, reminiscent stairwell bustle, and multi-level discoveries. Solotel CEO Elliot Solomon, who operates Kings Cross Hotel, lauds ‘World Bar – One More Time’ as a testament to their commitment to crafting unforgettable experiences, bridging generations of music aficionados and party enthusiasts, and ensuring that the World Bar legacy continues to thrive. As Ward succinctly puts it, “Some say you will never be the same again…”—a tantalizing promise of an unforgettable evening.
