Stunning debut EP from Argonaut&wasp

Argonaut&wasp AKA Theo Klein and Trey Schibli from Burlington, Vermont, have recently released their four track EP, “Future Protocol.”

One part funk, one part dance and one part indie, “Future Protocol” is a stunning debut for a band that has captured the future of modern pop music. Well put it has been said, “imagine MGMT’s brand of psychedelic indie pop meeting Kaytranada’s world of R&B infused deep house with a little dose of funk for good measure.”

Argonaut&wasp have been preparing their ambitious debut EP for a long time now.

“The inspiration for 95 percent of the songs on the EP really comes from the same place. They’re like a coming of age story in a sense, both in growing as an artist as well as an individual.”

They go on to say, “It’s about learning to find this confidence within yourself to stand up for your ideas and throughout the whole thing there’s this constant battling against yourself and eventually overcoming it.”

My personal favourite of the bunch is, “Stranger Lover,” due to its addictive hooks and gripping melodies. Their unique approach to songwriting is what sets them apart. A balancing act between dance floor torque and footloose songwriting chops, the duo’s funk renaissance is inspired by a revolving cast of collaborators.
