BROXE Vol. II: The Outtakes

WELP! It’s been ready since August but you know how it is with mooks: The chilling always comes first, so much that we have enough to start working on Volume III when II ain’t even out yet.  The work ethic is primo but sometimes the stars need to be perfectly aligned in order to provide the optimal BROXING experience. These Montreal moments are timeless. We have no deadlines, no bosses… No pressure. The shit will drop when it’s ready. Now that we got everything smoothed out, we are proud to present this masterful ‘zine to the public. Let’s examine some of these photos and analyze why they did NOT make the cut. We want to provide the 200 lucky owners of this photographic document only the best that the BROXE has to offer. Immerse yourself in ignorance. Indulge in every fantasy and selfish desire. BROXE…

00

Now that Tommy is an international superstar, printing the right photo of him is critical. The hat is not big enough, the bottle isn’t either. Also, the lack of namedrop-worthy superstars in his proximity makes this one a no-go.

01

I love the framing. The androgynous look of the person in the blue shirt definitely plays a vital role in this photo, however the lack of sexual identification of the person riding him/her makes this photo soft and therefore not fit for primetime. If we could see that crotch, it would have been perfect. Oh well… moving on.

02

Here again, the painted nails indicate female while everything else says male. Tron is not sure either, clearly he’s heavy on the BROXE and could’ve easily just picked up one of these modern fellas for a little spin on his shoulder. The photographer was also on the BROXE so to avoid nasty rumors, we decided not to publish this photo.

03

Just ‘cuz there’s some ass in a photo don’t mean it’s fit for print. Don’t let these flat-booty batches get gassed up.

04

This one should’ve made it, though. Still don’t know why it’s not in there.

06

Gangsters move in silence. They also shop at Metro like everyone else. Real shit, I think it’s an awesome photo but it’s also been leaked online which makes it not fit for the 96.69{ed1b542e18a3fdb29a343f0bf5604cce6e71819c6df381e846b4d07cb9d1dc18} never-before-seen content we promise to uphold with each issue.

07

Other than having major swag there is nothing that interesting about this capture. Not ‘zine-worthy.

08

Boss shit. High on ‘shrooms in Switzerland. The photo could never translate the feeling accurately.

09

Lean is so 2008 and acting modern is getting played out… Sorry.

000025440018

Being modern for the camera… Nobody gives a shit.

10

There was a another photo with the same slut but in a better position so we chose that one…

11

Tattoos…

12

We don’t condone violence. Pas de violence, SVP.

13

We don’t condone photos of bums or people sleeping in public.

20

Sorry, bud. Maybe if you get back on your feet we will feature you in the next one.

14

We don’t condone racism or racist jokes. This Mexi-Salvadoran wearing fake dreads while smoking a spliff next to an affluent white male is highly offensive.

We don’t condone graffiti or any form of street art. We are grown men who are into film photography and fine art. We are tired of the negative image it brings so no more photos of graffiti. Sorry, guys.

15

“Why are these ‘mooks’ so obsessed with squatting? I just don’t get it”… LOL!

16

Some people try really hard, though… The next Slavsquat Olympics are in four years…

17

RESPECT. Dude looks official. Probably should’ve thrown that in there for some extra street cred.

18

Actually don’t know why it didn’t make it. I love this photo. Oh yeah, the street art… Right.

19

Classic MTL telemarketer. Fuck, why is this not in the ‘zine?

21

Street photography is played out… Who cares about people walking or standing around?

23

For $10 you deserve more than a photo of a really “cool” painting, don’t you agree?

24

No photos of buskers.

25

Double exposures are for hipsters.

26

Double no-no right here.

27

Many legendary photos of Big Jo didn’t make it… Many of them did.

We kept the most exclusive local superstars for the ‘zine. Des mooks de premier choix comme: Barry Boom, Roi Heenok, Chuck, Vai-K, Marcko Ramirez, Murda Mersh, Tom Danks, Cookie, Team GB, Guilt’s little brother Daniel and many more.

Here is a sneak peak at what actually made it to this photographic masterpiece…

This zine contains 54 pages of full bleed 35mm pain.

It features photos from Tron, Stan Troitsky, Last and a special Montreal golden era graff section by a special guest.

To be fully honest, this is by far one of the illest zines I ever had the pleasure of putting together. It was hard not to throw these photos online for more than a year but its well worth it. I put extra time and effort of making this something worth having and thats word to my mother. Hopefully some of them get buried and found by future civilizations so they can examine the broxe and witness how mooks got down in 2014. Big shallout to Rickshaw Studios in Ottawa for the dope printing job. Hit them up for any type of print work, the guys are solid.
