The BROXE is real. I brought three cameras to Miami with visions of taking lots of photos but the BROXE took over as soon as I stepped foot on this balcony and I barely shot anything in the seven days I was out there. Same with Art Basel, I had visions of a graff filled weekend but we ended up spending most of our time outside of Wynwood and all over Florida from far away beaches and everglades down to the most southern Keys. Graffiti is cool but nature is way cooler. Painting is fun but kayaking through narrow channels in the swampy mangroves was an unforgettable life experience. I just want to give a HUGE shallout to Soma, Skor, Scan, Rock, Dre, the whole Kulturez team, the 004 Connec boyz and everyone else who made this trip so fun that I forgot to document most of it. Didn’t spend much time in the cluster fuck of writers that was found in Wynwood over the weekend. However, I did manage to snap some of the work left behind as I strolled through the district. Here is a really small percentage of what was done at this years Art Basel. These are some of my personal favorites.
Also, on a sadder note, FTP. RIP DEMZ, a writer who got ran over by a cop car for painting on a wall during one of the worlds biggest “street art” events. Our condolences go out to his family and close ones.
I want to take this opportunity to remind you that we are throwing a small jam for the release of BROXE VOL II this Friday. The address is secret because the space is small and the cops are liable to come shut it down if it gets out of hand. Just ask around and I’m sure you will figure it out. We will be giving out free prints and other goodies to those who come early. We got a crazy line up of superstar DJs and a special performance by Pic Paquette. We welcome all to boil through but we are asking you kindly in advance to NOT HANG AROUND THE FRONT DOOR of the event because this will give the pigs a reason to run up in the spot and shut it down early.
