Carl Craig is a man of much love and pride for his Detroit heritage and there’s no better way for him to be showing it than bringing his ‘Detroit Love’ showcase to this years Movement Festival.
Pre-empting the techno ho-down Carl Craig worked with Bloc TV to create a cinematic mini-documentary of sorts that fills you in on the city and his love affair with music. In the doco, you learn how much Detroit radio influenced Carl Craig in his early years and the ‘reality’ that the city provides.
He chats about local radio legend DJ Charles Johnson who was better known as ‘The Electrifying Mojo’ who played a key role in pioneering the techno scene in the now bankrupt city.
The ‘Detroit Love’ showcase includes hometown heroes Moodymann and Omar S, plus Levon Vincent, Ben Sims, DVS1, Mortiz Von Oswald and Dolan Bergin.
