No one can argue that this past year belonged to Pharrell. Now with news of his upcoming solo LP G I R L actually seeing the light of day, its time for The Neptunes‘ breakout star to divulge why this year seems slated be another colossal one for him. BBC1′ Zane Lowe go the chance to catch up with P at the 2014 BRIT Awards–where he stepped on stage to perform his summer smash “Get Lucky” with the his hit-making patriarch Nile Rodgers– asking in particular what brought the solo effort to fruition, to which P explained that everyone he had been working with –particularly Daft Punk– had acknowledged his enormous potential as a frontman–except for him. And so Columbia extended their hand to the hit-maker to make sure the project made its way out of the conceptual stages. Its a casual and candid account with Skateboard P –and that damn hat– getting us ready for the madness that this new endeavor will surely incite.
